Former Chief of Staff for the IDF and son of the renowned archaeologist Eliezer Sukenik, Yigael Yadin became one of the most famous archaeologists in the new state of Israel. Awarded the Israel Prize for his research on the Dead Sea scrolls, Yadin’s fieldwork encompassed many important excavations including Tel Hazor, Masada, and Meggido.
