Born in Romania, Wiesel was sent to Auschwitz with his entire family at 15 years old. The lone survivor in his family of Holocaust, he went on to write 57 books including Night which details his experiences in the concentration camp. Wiesel was tireless in his efforts to prevent the Holocaust from ever happening again. He was awarded the Nobel Peace prize for his work for peace, atonement, and human dignity.
