Chords Bridge

On this day in 2008, the remarkable Chords Bridge was inaugurated. Designed by famed Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, the bridge was the answer to a challenge by former Jerusalem mayor to design “the most beautiful contemporary bridge.” The Chords Bridge is used by Jerusalem’s Light Rail Red Line and has become an iconic modern symbol of Jerusalem. There is another Calatrava bridge in Petah Tikvah, a town outside of Tel-Aviv.
