Herodium

by Touchpoint Israel

A few miles southeast of Jerusalem, in the Judean desert, is the elaborate complex of Herodium, an impressive example of ancient ingenuity and architecture. Built by King Herod the Great, this site was designed as both an ornate royal dwelling and a secure fortress. Within the conical hill is Herod’s seven-story palace, and his tomb was discovered here in 2007. Learn more about this ancient royal complex here.
