Touring Tel Aviv

by Touchpoint Israel

Known as the financial center and technology hub of Israel, there is nothing the beautiful city of Tel Aviv does not have to offer. Whether you are someone who enjoys relaxing at the beaches, a history fanatic, or a lover of culture, your time here will be nothing short of amazing.

In this beautiful city, there are 10 beaches; each being known for something distinct. However, three of these stand out among the rest. Gordon Beach is arguably the loveliest beach in Tel Aviv, hosting a saltwater pool, an outside gym, and a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream stand nearby. Banana Beach, also known as drummer’s beach, is known for being very tranquil. If you stop by on Friday evenings, you will be sure to find a crowd coming out to enjoy drum circles, singing, and dancing. Metzizim Beach is known for being the ideal family beach.

If history interests you, take a stroll through the Old City of Jaffa. This ancient city, dating back to biblical times, is said to be named after Noah’s son Japhet, as well as being the place of Jonah’s departure before his fateful encounter with the whale. Past Jaffa is the Eretz Israel museum that showcases artifacts discovered in Tel Aviv. The museum also serves as an archaeological facility where Tell Qasile, an ancient port city built by the Philistines in the 12th century BCE, was restored.

The cultural presence flows through Tel Aviv. Located between Allenby Street and HaKovshim Park, the bustling stalls of Carmel Market will be sure to tickle your fancy. From vendors that sell colorful spices, to ones that sell knock-off sunglasses, you will be sure to not walk home without bags of purchases covering your arms. Be sure to arrive early for the best selection! For great shopping and entertainment, visit Culture Square which is home to the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the newly renovated Habima National Theater, and the Helend Rubinstein Pavilion for Contemporary Art.

While the places just mentioned are our top choices, there are dozens upon dozens more places to see and things to do within Tel Aviv!
