Coming Soon: Virtual Hiking in Israel

by Touchpoint Israel

The Israel National Trail (INT) is one of the Holy Land’s feature attractions for nature lovers. From Eilat at Israel’s southern tip to Dan along the northern border with Lebanon, the INT consists of approximately 620 miles of the most breathtaking views imaginable. Now, thanks to Google Street View, the trail will soon be accessible via the internet.

Google has enlisted the help of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (SPNI) to accomplish this task. Eighty SPNI members will take turns hiking the trail over the next three months, carrying special cameras on their backs, to record this incredible landmark from beginning to end.

When the project is completed, anyone will be able to experience the beauty of Israel and explore 360 degrees of the Israel National Trail with just a few clicks of a button.

SPNI hopes the project will encourage tourists to come to Israel and hike the trail for themselves, as well as promote environmental conservation efforts in Israel.
