David Ben Gurion

by Mackenzie Landi

Considered the George Washington of Israel, Ben Gurion was the primary national founder of the modern State of Israel and the first Prime Minister of Israel. His passion for Zionism began early in life, and he navigated the turbulence with strong leadership and unified the Jewish people in one nation. On May 14, 1948 he formally declared the establishment of the State of Israel and was the first to sign Israel’s Declaration of Independence. He retired from political life in 1970, and his legacy continues strong today.
